Skinny Jeans

This weekend I decided to go through my closet and amour and put away my fat jeans and pull out my skinny jeans.  I'm tempted to give them to goodwill now because I'm never going to get to that size again. Right?! I'm a slight hoarder so I'll probably keep these around until I get in my spring cleaning mood. The fat jean pile is a lot taller than the skinny jean pile. I guess I need to go shopping soon!

Sunday was a beautiful day in Austin, Texas. Clover and I went to Town Lake and decided to take a nice jog around the lake. We stopped by the leash free park but Clover was not in a playful mood. I decided to do my leg workout while Clover chased the squirrels up trees. After approximately 3.5 miles I completed the run and my foot was throbbing. I don't think it was prepared for that run.

Monday I woke up with a sharp pain in my rib cage. I thought that I slept weird and it would go away but it's now Wednesday and it's just getting worse. I'll give it a week and then I'll go to the doctor. I feel like such a baby! Ugh! It's not helping with my motivation during these last 2-3 weeks of RevEx either.

Metabolic Conditioning... Really?!

"Metabolic Conditioning or "metcon" refers to conditioning exercises intended to increase the storage and delivery of energy for any activity."
Sounds easy enough, right? Well it's not. This was part of my workout for today:
Do 5 rounds and only rest as needed (as minimal as possible)
Time yourself so that you can try to beat your previous times

21 Kettle Bell Swings (if not available, use a dumbbell)
21 Pushups (chest to ground, from knees if necessary)
21 Situps (chest to knees)
21 Burpees (includes pushup)
I did about 1.5 rounds and I was exhausted. I was completely out of breathe and wheezing. It's really hard to force myself to keep going as fast as possible. Where's a drill master when I need one?!

Back to the Gym

I have spent the last week recovering from a bum foot and bronchitis. I'm not quite over either one but it's about time to get back in the swing of things. Shockingly I have missed the gym which I don't think I would have imaged myself saying that 3 months ago. I went to the gym on Sunday but only did weights. I'm trying to take it easy but that didn't happen today. I thought I would do a little bit of cardio and a little of weights but as soon as I got on the elliptical machine, I just started moving! So much for taking it easy. I hope that doesn't back fire. I am going to the doctors tomorrow to get another round of drugs to kick this illness out of me!

I'm ahead of my weight goal by about 1 lb. I'm shocked because I didn't workout last week and I thought I cheated more than usual but I won't complain! 10 more pounds to go!

I had a busy but fun weekend!

Saturday
I scoped out the bridal shops around Austin with my mom and was able to try on a few dresses. It was an amazing feeling when the lady zipped up the dress. When I tried on dresses in December, I almost ripped the dresses with my large hips and big tummy but not anymore!

Sunday
I did all my grocery shopping and meal prep for the week. I prepared most of my meals but need to figure out lunch and dinner every day.
Meal #1: 3 Hard Boiled Eggs (egg whites only), raspberries
Meal #2: Faux Spaghetti (Spaghetti Squash, Ground Beef, 365 Pasta Sauce)
Meal #3: Any suggestions??
Meal #4: Bison and Broccoli
Meal #5: Random... Had sirloin tonight with vegetable mix.
After that Craig and I went to my parents house to have dinner at Tugs BBQ.

Before we went to dinner I... really my mom... finished making Clover's new dog collar and leash! I started sewing the collar but quickly got frustrated and my mom finished it. I have no patience with sewing machines or my father sitting next to me asking when we can go to dinner. He was like a little child in the back seat of the car saying "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?". Even with all my frustration my mom did a fabulous job and the collar and leash turned out great! Clover is so adorable!

Working my sewing skillz

What a cutie!
Time for my favorite TV night: Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, The Real Housewives of Orange County, and Smash.

Enjoy.

My abs are going to be awesome!

And not because I have been working them out in the gym. I have been coughing up a lunge all week. I'm 94.3% sure I had a fever on Wednesday and I'm sure I still have some what of a fever. I can't rest now though. I'm 15 lbs down and counting. I need to meet my goal and I don't want to be on this crazy diet for the remainder of the program. I know it's all mental but when I think about eating chicken, fish, or beef and veggies at night it makes me want to gag. I have been craving chocolate like no bodies business! I'm sure some of it is due to the (boys close your eyes) "time of the month". Next week will be easier, right?

Workin' out at the gym.
It's hard to see but these workout clothes are big on me (143lb)!

Tonight is a major TV night. I love my Thursdays! Good thing the DVR was invented because I will be heading to bed earlier to fight my cold.
  • The Vampire Diaries - 7pm
  • The Secret Circle - 7pm
  • Grey's Anatomy - 8pm
  • Private Practice - 9pm

I have started putting together a new playlist. It's a work in progress but I listen to it at work.

"My haters are my motivators"

Enjoy.

My fat is crying!

  • I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow with a Chiropractic Sports Physician. I have been off of my foot for the past few days and the pain went away. I thought I would try running again today and about 13 minutes into my run the pain was back. I hope that he can fix my foot. I want to get back into running!
  • For the longest time I have been more concerned with working out my legs and didn't give much thought to my arms. In the last few days I realized that my arms are the most important thing! The only things that you will see on my wedding day is my arms and face. My legs and hips will be covered by my dress unless the fashion changes and I wear a muumuu wedding dress. I don't think that will happen.
  • This past weekend I was asked if I was pregnant because I wasn't drinking. It's interesting how people go straight to that instead of thinking that maybe I'm trying to better my life and loose the extra weight. It's nice that they noticed the change though.
  • My future hubby-poo and I watched The Ides of March on Saturday. It was an OK movie up until the very end. What kind of ending was that?! Stupid.
  • I have gone through several ideas for a wedding guestbook. I think I have picked it! I will be creating a scrapbook of Craig and I and at the end will be the guestbook. I didn't want to be stuck with an extra book with just names in it so I thought it would be a good way to incorporate our wedding with our scrapbook. Anyone have a better idea or concern with that idea? I'm sure I have not thought it through.
  • I purchased the ring bearer pillow for Etsy. I'm so excited for the little details to come to together. I know there are a billion more to make but 1 down, 1 billion more to go!

Spaghetti Squash... it's not in the noodle aisle

This week I received a special meal plan and exercises for shoulders, hamstrings, legs, chest, and biceps. I'm supposed to get cardio sessions in almost everyday but since the half marathon the outside edge of my foot hurts. I tried to run on the treadmill tonight but I only made it 3 minutes. I switched to the elliptical machine which didn't hurt but I don't feel I got as good of a workout.

After my workout I went to World Foods to get the ingredients for my special meal plan.  Meal number 2 is lean ground beef, pasta sauce, and spaghetti squash. I have been looking for spaghetti squash for weeks now! I thought you could find spaghetti squash in the noodle aisle wrapped in a bag or box just like regular spaghetti. Boy was I deceived! My wonderful friend, Nicole, informed me that spaghetti squash is actually a vegetable which could be found in the vegetable aisle. Who would have guessed?!

13.1... Where's my sticker?

On January 29, 2012, I completed my first half marathon with my future hubby-poo. I completed the half marathon in 2 hours and 22 minutes which is 8 minutes faster than my goal! I'm proud to say that I only stopped once to use the restroom (BTW the toilets were disgusting!).

I created a ballin' (yes ballin') playlist on Spotify for the half marathon. I had songs from Deadmau5 to Paul Simon to Mad Caddies. It's a weird mix but it kept me dancing while I ran. Here is a link to my Spotify Half Marathon playlist if you're interested: Half Marathon.

Italobrothers - "Stamp on the ground"

It is so motivating to have the 6000 runners all around you moving towards the same goal. I also loved seeing the people on the side cheering us on! My favorite sign was "Worst Parade Ever". There was also a sign that said "You're not slow... You're just enjoying the course."

Isn't she the cutest? I don't think she would have made it 13.1 miles.
Now I have to get back into the swing of things. I have 6 more weeks to lose about 16 pounds. Is that possible? I'm not sure but I'll try to reach it!

T-Minus 5 days...

The 3M Half Marathon is almost here! The longest I have ever run is 5 miles and that was a few months ago. Sometimes I catch myself talking to myself (in my head of course). I have a little chant in my head "Just keep running, Just keep running..." or "Don't stop running! You need to burn off those french fries that you ate yesterday." It works... try it. My arms and legs muscles currently hurt because of the different exercises I did last week and on Monday. I hope I will feel better by Sunday. Running with sore muscles is not enjoyable.

I have been filled with all kinds of different emotions this past week. I have been feeling physically and emotionally exhausted. Waking up early for morning workouts, working out 6 days a week (2 of which I work out twice), and planning my wedding is a lot. I don't play well when I'm tired and grumpy. Craig and I went to the grocery store yesterday and I wanted to grab the Velveeta mac and cheese, pretzels, diet coke, and pizza. I was feeling very defeated and wanted to leave. I wish eating healthy was easier and not such a chore.

On that note... I have lost almost 13 pounds so far. You would think that would be motivation enough to keep going strong and not to cheat. I need a routine that is realistic to maintain the weight once I lose it. Working out 6 days a week is just not that realistic for me. Especially the days that I have to work out twice. I'm suppose to work out today but I doubt it will happen. I'm going to go meet with a possible officiant for my wedding. I'm not a fan of exercising past 7. That's my time to relax and not think about anything and enjoy my 10 million TV shows that I watch.

My closing statement for today is... BLAH. Enjoy. Peace.

Love It... Hate It

Love It
Rock Star: 0 Calories, 0 Carbs! It also comes with a straw!

Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know

Kimbra - Settle Down
Losing weight! 10lbs and counting! I have been craving sweets more often now. I did cheat today with peanut M&M's. I don't know why I ate them. I will need to work extra hard tomorrow morning.

Foam Roller - I have bad shin splints and it was recommended that I roll my shins over a foam roller. I didn't believe it but after I did it and went for a run, they felt sooooo much better!

Hate It
Cottage Cheese... Yuck! I stuff it down because it's full of protein but I can't eat that much of it.

Burpees and Pushups... Terrible exercises...

Meeting 20 million vendors for my wedding. I'm ready to pick the first person I meet now.

Hate It But Love It
5:30 AM Workout - I hate waking up so early but it's nice to get the workout over with for the day.

New Year, New Try

It has been approximately 8 months... 8 months... 8 months... since my last post. Terrible... huh? I will admit that I'm awful at keeping up with something like this but I really would like to try again. It will be nice to document my year ahead as it will be a busy one! A lot has changed in the last 8 months.
  1. I was promoted to Professional Services Manager. I now manager projects instead of implement them.
  2. I was engaged on November 10, 2011! We will be getting married on November 10, 2012!
  3. I started a nutrition/fitness program through Revelation Fitness on December 19, 2011. I'm 4 weeks in and I have lost 8 lbs. At the end of the program I will be in a reveal photo shoot and Craig and I will take our engagement photos with InkedFingers! I have a few goals to complete by mid-March.
    1. Lose 30 lbs (15% body fat)
    2. Complete the 3M half marathon on January 29, 2012
    3. Fit into a size 4 wedding dress
I will be documenting my journey through the fitness program and the wedding planning. So stay tuned!
